Natural Model for Artists

Do-Something-Everyday, May 26, 2016

I am beginning to realize that with warm weather approaching, the art I am doing now seem all inspired by nature. This morning I was wondering what do I paint today? Then I saw this glorious fern on my front yard and realized that nature is best model for an artist, one that never stops giving. As I started painting this single frond of leaves, I could not but admire the perfect symmetry of the leaves. Something I had not noticed before. One can capture on paper only a pale imitation of it, don't you think?

Thanks for visiting. Linked to Paint Party Friday. Thanks to Kristin and Eva for hosting.

  5. Ferns are beautiful plants and you've done a lovely job recreating their delicate nature. Unfortunately here in Scotland they tend to be where ticks hide out waiting for dogs (or people) to pass by and jump on board so I see them now in a more sinister light!

  12. Yes, I agree - ferns are so perfect in their intricate beauty! An art teacher pointed out to me how often nature's design follows the fibonacci sequence, which results in the symmetry and or spirals we so often encounter. Quite fascinating! Your fern painting is beautiful. So fresh!

  14. How beautiful! When my kids were small, we would paint the leaves, then press them onto cloth--like sweatshirts and t-shirts. SO much fun. Happy PPF!
