Altering a Photo by Hand (with a little help from Photoshop)

Just as I was about to take the photo of this peacock, the little boy broke away from his mother and started bawling his eyes out oblivious to the magnificent creature in front of him.
It was the mating season and the peacock wouldn't care less about the boy's distress. Apart from the boy, there were several other distracting elements in the photo (see below).

Using Photoshop Elements, I cropped and blurred the areas that I did not want and came up with this (see below).

I printed the photo on a white cardstock paper and added highlights using gel pens and watercolor (see below).
