Art on a Book Page and a Tangle

For this round, Try it on Tuesday invites its participants to create an art using Book Pages. I painted this hoopoe on an old torn book page. I prepped the paper by applying a light layer of absorbent ground and then painted the bird using watercolors.

The one below is my response to this week's challenge at I am the Diva which was to use the tangle ING. This tile came about quite accidentally. I was de-cluttering the kitchen cabinets when I came upon full box of unused coffee filters. These filters were in brown color and I was reluctant to throw them out. While taking a break from cleaning, I sat by the dining table and created this tile. I used a black gel pen and pencil.

Monday Morning Art Fix

For this Monday morning, I am posting two pieces of art. The first one is for I am the Diva czt this week's challenge which is Black, White and Red all over. My kind of color scheme.

The one below is a watercolor of the gorgeous magnolias that have been blooming all this month on my front yard.

The letter this week for ABC Wednesday is X.  It is hard to come up with a word that starts with X. Melanie's X is the symbol for kisses and hugs (XO). Mine is more prosaic. If you ever did a spreadsheet on the computer, you will recognize this logo. Yes, the ubiquitous Microsoft Excel! If you can be excited about this X, you are welcome!

I Am All Boxed Up!

This week's I am the Diva challenge is to use "All Boxed up" tangle by Alice Hedron. This tanagle nicely followed last week's challenge to use only straight lines. So, I continued with last week's project of planter redo and added a bunch of I am all boxed up around the outer edges. I all also added some turquoise blue color in the middle rectangle to brighten it.. I like the way the whole thing is shaping up.

Weekly Challenge #100

Out at I am the Diva, Laura is celebrating the 100th Zentangle challenge, in honor of which, Maria Thomas (the founder of Zentangle) came up with three new tangles. Our challenge was to create a tile using three new tangles. I always find it easier to do ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art). This being the holiday, I decided to tangle this reindeer. Laura Haams is bit like a reindeer herself, beautiful, gentle and strong and if you look closely you will find her name somewhere in those tangles.

I got this lovely image of the reindeer from the Graphics Fairy, a wonderful site for free vintage images.
